Cathy Brett chosen for Richard and Judy Children’s Book Club 2011

Headline author Cathy Brett’s Scarlett Dedd is to feature on the new Richard and Judy Children’s Book Club list. It’s one of only eighteen titles in total, and one of just six in the Fluent Readers category. The Richard and Judy website praises it as “very funny with amazing illustrations and very stylish - will appeal to fans of Tim Burton”!

Get blogging!

There's loads of great teen and YA book blogs out there like www.books4teens.co.uk and www.wondrousereads.com. And it's ridiculously easy to set a blog up with sites like wordpress and blogger.com.

If you're a big reader and want to share your reviews or just blog about whatever comes into your head, here are some tips for geting started:

REMEMBER ESSAYS ARE FOR SCHOOL

You don't have to write everything in bitesize chunks but if you want to keep people reading, don't waffle on for too long. A long blogpost can be a bit like piling too much food on the plate.Don't overface your readers!

MIX IT UP

Lists, interviews, pics, vids, longer articles, reviews. Try lots of different things to keep your blog fresh and interesting.

BE YOURSELF

We don't mean share every little detail about yourself and your life (that's seriously unsafe, and also pretty dull). But if you write like you talk, your blog will have a more relaxed readable style.
